Prosilient's PTAnalyzer provides full IPTV and multicast support. Prosilient probes can be setup to generate multicast traffic, monitor multicast traffic (to calculate the MDI, Media Delivery Index) as well as perform channel zapping (measuring channel join and leave delays) between a configurable set of multicast channels.
The distributed properties of the PTAnalyzer system design enables easy analyze and correlation of multicast traffic to verify and monitor the network ability to transport as well as handle the control plane (IGMP) for multicast traffic, e.g. one-way propagation delay for a multicast channel can be easily compared between several receivers situated at different locations in the network. Moreover, the multicast channel zapper, will exercises the networks ability to handle the IGMP protocol, to verify the performance of multicast routers and IGMP snooping devices.
