2 x OneWay Session |
|
The 2xOneWay session provides a light-weight and cost-effective way to enable supervision of servers and other network elements. A 2xOneWay session is setup between a probe and reflector/responder or another probe. The probe is responsible to originate and terminate the packet stream, while the reflector/responder only is responsible to reflect the measurement packet stream back to the probe. The following modes are supported: · Probe to ProbeIn this mode, the 2xOneWay session is setup between two Prosilient probes. The following stream encapsulations are available: UDP, TCP, GRE, SCTP and ICMP. · Probe to 2xOneWay Hosted AgentIn this mode, the 2xOneWay session is setup between a Prosilient probe and a 2xOneWay hosted agent (i.e. userland reflector). Only UDP encapsulation is supported. The figure below shows a 2xOneWay measurement between a probe and Reflector running on a general application server.
The same metrics are measured and reported for 2xOneWay sessions as for 1xOneWay sessions. The 2xOneWay session will report result data for both directions, i.e. the uplink direction (Probe to Reflector) and downlink direction (Reflector to Probe). |
