Bandwidth Monitoring Session
Performing bandwidth monitoring with traditional SNMP based polling techniques is a complex task. Based on the accessibility of the devices and interface specific performance statistics it can be challenging to get a clear picture of the bandwidth usage within an end to end mobile backhaul path.
Prosilient Technologies is now releasing a unique, non intrusive end-to-end method for monitoring bandwidth utilization withinmobile backhaul networks. The Prosilient system monitors the available bandwidth on the up- and downlink as well as the RTT in an end to end perspective. This provides one comprehensive report for each end to end path, the path between a core / EPC site and cell site.
Performance monitoring in mobile backhaul networks have two main purposes:

- Monitor the general IP KPI´s to secure quality in delivered services for the operations to the end users.
- Monitor capacity headroom for new and existing services.
The Prosilient Bandwidth function provides the following performance metrics:
Occupancy, the utilization of the link. Available Bandwidth, the remaining capacity of the link. RTT, the round trip time on the link TTL, the Time-To-Live value of a packet sent End to End

The example shows a 34 Mbps link with fluctuating traffic and an occupancy level of 19-27.5-10 Mbps and available bandwidth of 15-7-24 Mbps.
