Overview

The PTAnalyzer product suite provides continuous 24/7 E2E (end-to-end) service performance management, QoS measurement and SLA supervision to network operators and enterprises. The PTAnalyzer system is a distributed probe based network performance monitoring system and consists of the following components:

  • Measurement Probes/Reflectors
  • Supervision Domain Controller(s)
  • Configuration/Management Client (GUI and CLI applications)

The Supervision Domain Controller (SDC) is the key component in the supervision domain and is responsible for:

  • Probe Management
  • Session Management
  • Analyzes & Alarm Filtering (SLA supervision)
  • Auto-Report Generation
sessions and sdc

SNMP Traps & Database Interface (to external OSS/NMS systems)

A session is an abstraction of a measurement and is responsible to manage the resources, e.g. interacting probes and peers, stream configuration, result reporting. The measurement result is reported periodically to the SDC with a configurable interval. A session has the following properties:

  • Active (injecting/receiving) or Passive (listening) mode
  • Unicast or multicast addressing scheme
  • Multicast channel zapping
  • Encapsulations (e.g. UDP, TCP, SCTP, ICMP, GRE, etc)
  • Stream Parameters (e.g. bandwidth, packet-size, etc)
  • Analyze and Report (e.g. analyze level, report interval, etc)

Finally, several SDCs can be used to deploy a full-scale supervision solution to enable continuous E2E service performance management, QoS measurement and SLA supervision of the network and the services.
